If you are a father or still have a father or had a father and read this book or watch this movie and it does not touch your heart in some way, you need to check to make sure you still have a heartbeat. I challenge you to read The Father Effect or watch the movie by the same name. If you do so and are not affected, please let me know.
I have been a father over 30 years. Our youngest graduates from college next year. Although my child rearing responsibilities are done I will always be a father and can always try to improve in that role. What I expected from the book was to learn some things I had done well, some not so well, what I had done right and what I had done wrong and what I can do going forward to be the best father I can be. The Father Effect exceeded my expectations. As I mentioned in my last post we all want to know we have lived a good life. If you are a father you want to know you have been a good father.

You know all those pictures you see on Facebook and other social media sites of someone’s feet with the pool or the ocean in the background? You know the ones that kind of or really make you jealous that you are not enjoying your down time in a similar fashion? Well, this post does not have any of those. It does have Continue reading Beaches, Feet, Fear, Blessings and Freedom
It is that time of year again, that one day every year where I can be expected to be mad in an angry sort of way. Those that know me might think I am mad in the crazy, insane sort of way so I thought it best to clarify.
It is also the one day each year I can regularly be expected to be sad as I grieve for the loved ones of those murdered on this day.
Those that know me also know I don’t wear my emotions on my sleeve so they probably see this as out of character for me. However, this was a day unlike any other Continue reading Remembering Nine Eleven
Football season has started!
This past weekend as part of our 33rd wedding anniversary, we went to two football games, a high school game and a college game. The games were both competitive and our teams won both so that made them competitive and enjoyable. We both love football. Sharin probably loves it more than I do. Continue reading Kickoff #34
This ain’t Walt Disney’s company any more. It really hasn’t been for some time. I don’t think that is news to anyone who has been paying attention. The recent examples of Disney CEO Bob Iger choosing to put political correctness and possibly his own political aspirations ahead of the interests of maximizing stockholders’ value and carrying forward the legacy of Walt Disney prompted me to compose this post.
I have tremendous respect and admiration Walt Disney and all he accomplished and created for the company that now bears his name. His influence on entertainment and technology in the 20th century and beyond is second to none. That has not changed. Continue reading Standing for Last Man Standing
Do you think there is something you can specifically do in the next week that will make your personal life, your family life and your business life all worse?
Do you think there is something you can specifically do in the next week that will make your personal life, your family life and your business life all better?
Do you believe that the choice is yours?
Do you believe that every choice has an end result?
Do you believe making the right choice is your responsibility?
If you answered these questions honestly you likely answered them affirmatively. Using that as my assumption, here is what you just said, Continue reading Worst Year Ever?

On November 8th the United States of America will once again choose its next President. Some have made this decision more complex than it really needs to be. I cannot and will not try to tell anyone who to vote for. I wouldn’t expect you to listen or keep reading if I did. I can, however, share some of my thoughts on the election and try to simplify the choice we will be making on Election Day.
Since I published this post I have read and seen a few more articles from others that shared the same theme but expressed it much better or more detailed than I did so I have included links to those at the end of this post. Continue reading Time for choosing…again
Golden Retrievers are often frightened by thunder and other loud noises such as fireworks and gunshots they don’t understand. If you’ve ever owned such a dog you are probably aware of this.
We recently had to say goodbye to Dixie, the Golden Retriever that entered our lives as our 25th Wedding Anniversary gift to us almost 7 years ago. Continue reading One More Thunderstorm
