Remembering Nine Eleven

It is that time of year again, that one day every year where I can be expected to be mad in an angry sort of way. Those that know me might think I am mad in the crazy, insane sort of way so I thought it best to clarify.

It is also the one day each year I can regularly be expected to be sad as I grieve for the loved ones of those murdered on this day.

Those that know me also know I don’t wear my emotions on my sleeve so they probably see this as out of character for me. However, this was a day unlike any other and these events did strike a nerve and evoke emotion within me and I never want to lose those feelings when this day rolls around each year. These emotions are so strong they did make it out of my heart onto my sleeve through my fingers into this post. I don’t want you to forget either so I am logging this reminder here for all of us.

I am sad

I am sad for the 2,977 who lost their lives on this day in 2001. I am sad for their families, friends and loved ones because their lives were changed forever in the blink of an eye.

I am mad

I am mad because their deaths were caused by senseless acts committed by cowards in the form of radical Islamic terrorists.

On 9/11/2001 19 radical Islamic terrorists hijacked 4 commercial jetliners and used these as weapons to kill as many Americans as they could and try to terrorize those not killed and change our way of life in America. They flew two of these airplanes into the Twin Towers in New York City and one into the Pentagon. The fourth was headed for another target in Washington DC. However, there were some brave Americans on that plane who figured out what was going on and decided to disrupt the cowards’ plans. Due to their efforts, it fell short of its target in a field in Shanksville, Pennsylvania but still killed all on board.

If you need a reminder of the details of what happened that day you can see the definitive news reports and the 911 Memorial Timeline at the links below.

Don’t ever forget: Here are the original newscasts and rare New Yorkers’ footage of the Twin Towers being attacked and falling

See the 911 Memorial Timeline

There are many heroes to remember on this day.

Remember all the first responders who ran into the Twin Towers and Pentagon to try to save lives.

Remember all the brave passengers on Flight 93 led by Todd Beamer whose last words were, “Let’s Roll”.

Remember all those who helped in the search and recovery efforts that continued for weeks.

Remember the steady leadership of America’s Mayor, Rudy Giuliani, and President George W. Bush on this day and the days and weeks to follow.

Remember how political party affiliation did not matter and all Americans came together united behind a common cause, defeating the evil called terrorism.

Remember all of those killed senselessly because they were Americans who simply boarded a plane or showed up to work on 9/11/2001.

Never Forget 9/11/2001

9/11/2012 – 9/12/2012 –  Benghazi

On 9/11/2012 there was an organized terrorist attack on the American diplomatic outpost in Benghazi, Libya and then the CIA Annex that no one was supposed to know existed. The Global Response Staff tasked with protecting the Annex staff was severely understaffed for the task in this volatile environment, especially on the anniversary of 9/11/2001 when the US Ambassador to Libya was visiting.

My purpose here is not to recount the details but to remind you this attack on and betrayal and abandonment of fellow Americans by our government did happen.

If you do want to know the details get a copy of the book

and read it or get a copy of the movie  and watch it. Both tell the story of what really happened that night by those who lived through it.

I am sad

I am sad for the 4 lives lost on 9/11-9/12, 2012 in Benghazi. I am sad for their families, friends, loved ones and brothers in arms. This did not have to happen.

I am mad

What makes me mad about 9/11/2012 is there was no help forthcoming from America for its own people in a foreign land when they were under attack. I don’t know the reasons why no help was sent or who made that decision but do know that IS what happened. They were left there to die. If it were not for the bravery of the Annex Security Team and their willingness to disobey orders and do the right thing, they would have all died. Read the book. Watch the movie. Read the congressional reports and factual corrections at the links below.

EXCLUSIVE: Benghazi Heroes Debunk House Intel Report as ‘Full of Inaccuracies’ with Firsthand Account – Published 12/2/2014

Postscript 9/11/2012 – Not in the book or movie

What happened after the story in the book and movie ended makes me mad too. If you get your news from the mainstream media this will probably be news to you. The reward for doing the right thing and saving lives was basically being fired and having their security clearance revoked. I am sure they understood this would be a consequence of their actions but they acted anyway.

To add insult to injury the Obama Administration and Obama re-election campaign lied to the families of those killed that night and the American people claiming this attack was somehow caused by a video. They minimized the fact this was an organized terrorist attack when they knew this to be true the night it happened. It did not fit their campaign narrative that “al-Qaeda was on the run”. Those are facts.

Some of my thoughts

In my opinion, and I am not alone, they concocted the video story to help them win a Presidential election. With the help of their accomplices, the mainstream media, they fooled enough voters for this plan to work. To this date they have not been held accountable for their mis-information and cover up campaign.

In Stonewalled by Sharyl Attkisson

see what the Obama Administration and CBS “News” did to stop stories critical of the Administration before the 2012 election. One of these stories was what happened on the night of the Benghazi attacks. This censorship is just one part of her incredible story that eventually led her, an award winning well-respected investigative journalist, to resign. You can read one of her recent stories on that night – Rescue Interrupted, at her news site now called Full Measure. You can find other related stories there as well.

I hope one day those who participated in this cover up will be held accountable and justice will be served. Sadly, there is nothing I have seen so far to indicate this will ever happen. Call me old-fashioned and idealistic but it is sad government officials, elected supposedly to serve the American people, put more weight on their power and being re-elected than being truthful to the American people who elected them.

I could not write about the terrorist attack in Benghazi on 9/11/2012 without including this postscript because it is a part of the story that is not yet complete. There is more yet to be revealed. As you may have guessed, it also adds to my anger on this day.

Remember 9/11/2012

However, back to my primary goal for this post, I want you to remember what happened this night or learn about it for the first time and never forget those who lost their lives,

Ambassador Chris Stevens

I also want you to remember those who rushed into the fight that night to do what was right to save lives and lived to tell the story,

Dave “DB” Benton

Mark “Oz” Geist

Kris “Tanto” Paronto

John “Tig” Tiegen

Jack Silva

They are true American Patriots and deserve much more respect than they have received. They have my respect and gratitude and I am proud to say, with the exception of Jack Silva, I have shaken their hands and thanked them for their service.

I expect I will be mad and sad again next year when this date comes around again.

I invite you to join me in Remembering Nine Eleven.

Always remember.

Never forget.

Until next time…
