Drive-by media “journalism” is nothing more than sensationalizing a story, sometimes news, sometimes not, for the purpose of playing on the emotions of the audience to advance an agenda. After the initial story has achieved the intended effect they move on, ignoring facts discovered later that often completely contradict or prove the original story false. The damage has been done and the intended effect achieved. If they ever do post a follow-up story providing the factual information it is often buried and never has the same prominence as the original false story. Then they keep moving or drive by on to their next “story”.
A recent example of this was brought to my attention this week with the source being an area bail bondman who also has a website. Continue reading Drive-by bail bondsman
It will be Hire Your Boss Day 2016 in Enterprise for hundreds of city employees on August 23rd. I wanted to make sure you are aware of the opportunity you have this year and don’t miss it. It is one that doesn’t even come along every 4 years in Enterprise.
For those of us who work in the private sector if we have a bad boss, we normally have three choices. Continue reading Hire Your Boss Day
I was able to attend the school board meeting last night. This is the first meeting I have attended in probably a couple of months. This was also the first meeting I have attended with new board member, Mr. Doerer.
The meeting went longer than what had become normal, without any guest presentations or speakers. The reason it went longer was due to the discussion that took place, Continue reading Different Atmosphere
It is heating up in Enterprise
After all it is July in South Alabama. However the weather is not the only thing heating up. Election season is in full swing and is heating up as well. I suspect the bullying and intimidation I wrote about in The Silenced Majority has only intensified as the prospect that some are losing their grip on the reins of Enterprise has become a real possibility.
Those ominous clouds of intimidation that have existed in Enterprise for years can be rolled away if the people of Enterprise are ready to make that happen. Continue reading Ominous Clouds
I had a conversation with the Mayor the other night. It was an informative conversation, at least for me. It was an honor to talk with a true patriot who has served our country admirably for many years and is now serving our community. Enterprise is fortunate to have a man of his caliber willing and motivated to be a servant leader with the best interests of all its citizens at heart. If that surprises you, keep reading… Continue reading Talked with the Mayor
#1 – If you do anything, someone will criticize it.
#2 – If you say anything, someone will be offended.
The sooner you realize those are THEIR issues not YOURS and move on the better off you will be. Continue reading 3 Simple Truths From My Peculiar Perspective
We have a tradition at our house of watching The Patriot on the 4th of July every year because it is one of my favorite movies and to remind us of what we are celebrating on Independence Day. Even though it is historical fiction it does remind us of the sacrifices made 240 years ago that afford us the freedoms we enjoy as Americans today.
While watching it this year I noticed a truth that can be applied to us here in Enterprise. Continue reading Will You Stand Up?
When is an apology not an apology?

The details of this issue were summarized very well in the article by Michelle Mann in the Southeast Sun on 05/25/2015,
ECS Superintendent apologizes to teacher
What is new in this story is the prepared statement called an apology that was read by the superintendent in the board meeting on 05/24/2016 which brings me back to my original question. Continue reading Vindication
That is the title of the story in the Southeast Sun on September 5, 2012. The story is about the city elections held a week earlier on 8/28/12. You can see the full story here, Enterprise incumbent council remains.
Tuesday, August 23, 2016
In case you were unaware or had just forgotten in the midst of all the graduation events, dance recitals, spring fever and life as you know it, there will be another city election in a little over 3 months, on Tuesday, August 23, 2016. Whether the news reports will have the same title this year is a choice the citizens of Enterprise will make, either by participation or lack thereof.
A couple of things stand out to me when looking at the results from 2012. Continue reading Enterprise incumbent council remains
Like many Ben Carson supporters I have had a lot to digest over the past week, from the suspension of his campaign, to My Faith Votes, to his recent endorsement of Donald Trump.
A lot for my simple mind to digest
After the suspension of his campaign and beginning his new role as chairman of My Faith Votes I did not expect him to endorse anyone during the primaries. I did not expect it because that is what he said on March 4th,
“I have committed to not endorse a specific individual, but rather ‘We the People.'” Continue reading The Doctor makes a Trump House Call
